“I’m JoJo. That’s all you need to know …”
BUT JUNK NEEDED TO KNOW MORE.
SO, A STORY WAS . BORN
A TALE OF UNLIKELY CONNECTIONS
Welcome to my website … Over the course of about a year, I wrote a little book based on characters that came to mind from deep in my memory. They were sprung – as I was – from the change, excitement, chaos and challenges of living and loving in the turbulent 60s and 70s. The characters came to life and grew on me. I had to learn what would happen to them. So, I let JoJo and Junk grow and eventually come out into the world. Readers seem to be happy that I did.

But behind the campaigns and slogans, Nick was always writing. Poetry and fiction have been lifelong companions—quiet pursuits that ran parallel to the commercial work. His poems and short stories have appeared in literary magazines and web journals, and he was a featured poet and major contributor to Mountain Echoes, a regional literary journal.
Nick lives on a hilltop in northern West Virginia. He’s been married to the love of his life since 1974. (They met under a moose head.) They have two grown sons, two cats, and a daily ritual of morning walks. He writes to remember, to imagine, and to make peace with the beautiful mess of it all.

About the books
JOJO AND JUNK
RELATIONSHIPS ARE MESSY
Like the river that flows around the island where her big, green house is set, a secret flows constantly around the relationship between JoJo Joy and Richard “Junk” Manion.
Does she have two lovers? Does he? Why does she disappear at dawn? Why does he have to be exiled to a greasy diner with nothing but his Smith-Corona and bad coffee? Yet, they are connected beyond words. But is it a loose-fitting connection? Will it hold?

A hidden love. A marriage built on silence. A letter that changes everything. This intimate … literary novella explores love and loss, marriage and secrets, and the fragile ways we try to heal. Set against bars, backroads and small-town rituals, it’s a tender, psychologically rich portrait of grief, memory, and the cost of silence. Readers … will find a haunting human story that lingers long after the last page.

“This is simply the best story I have read in quite a while! It cuts straight to relationships without the 100 pages of misty meadows and heavy thoughts. Love it!"
