Author Bio – Nick Dixon

Born in Wheeling, West Virginia, Nick Dixon is a poet, storyteller, and retired creative director whose career began with a journalism degree from West Virginia University’s Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism. With a specialty in advertising, he went on to work for newspapers, lead creative teams in advertising agencies, and co-found his own firm. As a branding consultant, he developed hundreds of names for companies, products, and services across the U.S. and abroad. He later launched The Dixonary, a freelance consultancy focused on advertising and marketing communications.

But behind the campaigns and slogans, Nick was always writing. Poetry and fiction have been lifelong companions—quiet pursuits that ran parallel to the commercial work. His poems and short stories have appeared in literary magazines and web journals, and he was a featured poet and major contributor to Mountain Echoes, a regional literary journal.

Nick lives on a hilltop in northern West Virginia. He’s been married to the love of his life since 1974. (They met under a moose head.) They have two grown sons, two cats, and a daily ritual of morning walks. He writes to remember, to imagine, and to make peace with the beautiful mess of it all.
